Knox Employees Raise Money Through ‘United in Lavender’ Activities

983

During the month of October, the attorneys and staff of Knox McLaughlin Gornall & Sennett, P.C. raised money and spread cancer awareness through ‘United in Lavender’ events.

On October 4, firm members participated in Lee National Denim Day®, which allowed employees to wear denim to work for a $5 donation. All funds raised from this nationally recognized event benefit the American Cancer Society® and its fight against breast cancer. Since 1996, Lee National Denim Day® has raised more than $89 million for breast cancer programs that include lifesaving screenings in communities nationwide, providing hope and care to those traveling away from home for cancer treatment and investing in groundbreaking cancer research. Knox’s team name was ‘United in Lavender,’ as lavender is the color that represents all cancers.

Throughout the month of October, Knox staff distributed information to fellow employees about various cancers, their symptoms and preventative tips, and asked them to ‘Wear to Care’ various colored clothing that correlated to cancer awareness ribbons. The sale of lavender cancer awareness bracelets and a soup & salad luncheon also helped raise donations.

A total of $1,476 was raised, which was split between the American Cancer Society® (through Lee National Denim Day®) and the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation.
