Erie VA Medical Center Director To Speak at Association’s October Eggs ‘n’ Issues Briefing

ERIE – John A. Gennaro, director of the Erie Veterans Affairs Medical Center, will be the keynote speaker at the Manufacturer & Business Association’s (MBA) Eggs ‘n’ Issues briefing starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday, October 24, at the the MBA Conference Center, 2171 West 38th Street and Pittsburgh Avenue. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. All media are invited to attend.

Gennaro’s presentation, “Erie VA Medical Center – Honoring Service, Empowering Health,” will address the five key priorities that the Erie VA is focused on to ensure that the community’s 21,000 veterans continue to receive the highest level of mental and physical care they need and deserve. Topics include: providing time access to care; enhancing employee engagement; building a high-performance network; creating and sharing best practices; and, building trust by putting veterans first.

Gennaro was appointed as the director of the Erie VA Medical Center on June 20, 2016. With a budget of $144 million and 715 employees, he oversees delivery of health care to more than 21,000 veterans.

Gennaro has held many positions throughout his 15 years of service in the VA, beginning at the Research Foundation at the Cincinnati VAMC. He earned his bachelor’s degree in natural sciences and master’s degrees in business administration and health-care services administration from Xavier University. He is also a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
