Erie Federal Credit Union Donates $16,500 to Aid Ukrainian Families

4961

ERIE – Erie Federal Credit Union (Erie FCU) conducted a branchwide initiative to raise money for assistance to displaced Ukrainian families. EFCU members and nonmembers were encouraged to visit any Erie FCU branch location from April 1 through April 15, 2022 to donate.

With every donation, an Erie FCU staff member placed a Ukrainian flag/heart on the branch wall in honor of the donor’s support. The funds collected, paired with a direct Erie FCU contribution, amounted to $16,500 and are set to transfer this week to the Polish Credit Union Association responsible for managing the disbursement of funds to Ukrainian refugees in need.

“We should all feel very satisfied in knowing that we were part of something much larger than ourselves. The efforts of our members and the community will go a long way to help those in desperate need of basic care, medical equipment and ambulances to get wounded and sick refugees out of the war zone and to Polish hospitals,” said Brian Waugaman, CEO of Erie FCU.

Since its inception in 1936, Erie Federal Credit Union, has been serving its members in and around the Erie, Pennsylvania area. Erie FCU has grown its membership to nearly 69,000 with assets of more than $737 million.
