ERIE — A standing room-only crowd of manufacturers, educators, workforce and economic development professionals, government officials and various community leaders gathered in the auditorium at the Manufacturer & Business Association (MBA) Conference Center today for the Erie Regional Manufacturer Partnership (ERMP) General Supporter Meeting.

According to ERMP President and Chair George Currie, executive vice president at Erie Press Systems, the goal of the morning meeting was to shape and align collaborative efforts, serve as a clearinghouse of information sharing and provide updates on the group’s action plan.

Speakers included: Eric Karmecy, West Central John Partnership; Aldo R. Jackson, Erie Technical School; Matt Pundt, Erie School District; Dolores Sewchok, Manchester Bidwell; and Ralph Pontillo, MBA.

The Erie Regional Manufacturer Partnership (ERMP) was formed in 2014 by a group of 20 local manufacturers, that in total employ 9,106 individuals, to develop and implement a plan that will result in the ability to identify, qualify, and recruit individuals for employment and training to meet the skilled workforce needs of supporting companies and to create greater opportunities for individuals in the community to enter into and advance along manufacturing career pathways. This grassroots effort is led by industry partners to collectively identify needs and champion solutions as it relates to developing a robust pipeline and producing a skilled workforce.
