Erie Economist to Discuss 2018 Economic Outlook at MBA’s December Eggs ‘n’ Issues Briefing

ERIE — Ken Louie, Ph.D., director of the Economic Research Institute of Erie (ERIE), will discuss Erie’s economic outlook at the Manufacturer & Business Association’s monthly Eggs ‘n’ Issues briefing set for 8 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, at the Association’s Conference Center, 2171 West 38th Street at Pittsburgh Avenue. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. All media are invited to attend.

Amid growing consumer confidence, soaring stock markets, rising GDP, low oil and interest rates, and major changes to tax and health-care laws being addressed, Dr. Louie’s presentation will attempt to answer the question “Are we winning yet?” and reveal the real facts and figures behind Erie’s economic outlook for the year ahead.

In addition to his role as director of the Economic Research Institute of Erie, Dr. Louie is an associate professor of economics in the Black School of Business at Penn State Behrend. He received his B.A. in economics from Northwestern University and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in economics from the University of Illinois. His areas of specialization include international trade and finance, the economics of labor markets and the economy of China.

To register for this briefing, contact Terry Nunez at 814/833-3200 or 800/815-2660 or visit www.mbausa.org. Cost is $30 for members, $60 for nonmembers.
