ERIE — Legendary football coach and sports analyst Lou Holtz will be the keynote speaker at the Manufacturer & Business Association’s (MBA) 112th Annual Event, starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, at the Bayfront Convention Center, 1 Sassafras Pier. All media are invited to attend.
The event, which will follow the MBA’s annual Manufacturing Day celebration earlier in the day, will showcase Holtz’s career of inspiring his players and motivating them to be winners, as well as how that advice can be applied to the business world — by encouraging people to hold themselves accountable, by making leaders out of followers, and by embracing the road to achievement.
“Mr. Holtz has been hailed as ‘the greatest motivator of our time,’ ‘the best football coach in 50 years’ and ‘a modern-day Will Rogers,’ ” said MBA Marketing Director Tammy Polanski. “He has given hundreds of corporate presentations, and we expect that he will bring a compelling and exciting perspective to this year’s event, as he shares his thoughts on leadership, teamwork, motivation and how to embrace the values that can help improve any organization.”
According to his official biography, Holtz is widely recognized as one of the most celebrated and accomplished coaches in sports history, most notably for taking the struggling Notre Dame football program and building it into being a national powerhouse, which he led from 1985 to 1996. He also is the only coach in NCAA history to lead six different programs to bowl games and the only coach to guide four different programs to the final top 20 rankings.
Holtz eventually brought his experience and charisma to ESPN as an analyst for the network’s college football coverage from 2004-2015. He is also the author of the best-selling Winning Every Day: The Game Plan for Success, The Fighting Spirit: A Championship Season at Notre Dame and Wins, Losses, and Lessons: An Autobiography.
A sellout each year, the Manufacturer & Business Association’s Annual Event is the tri-state region’s premier business networking event, featuring the nation’s most prominent figures in business, politics and journalism.
