ATHENA Honors Former Erie Mayor, Mercyhurst University Student

1009

ERIE – Congratulations to former Erie Mayor Joyce Savocchio, who was honored as the ATHENA Award recipient, as well as Mercyhurst University graduate Emily Francis (shown in center with Linda Stevenson of ATHENA Erie, at left, and 2009 award recipient Hannah Kirby of LORD Corporation, at right), who was honored with the ATHENA Young Professional Award, during the annual ATHENA Erie Awards Luncheon today at the Ambassador Banquet & Conference Center.

The ATHENA Award was created in 1982 to encourage leadership opportunities for women. The award is presented to an individual who has attained, and who personifies the highest level of professional excellence in his or her business and profession. Recipients have devoted time and energy to the community in a meaningful way, and most especially have opened doors of leadership opportunities for women.

The ATHENA Young Professional Award identifies and recognizes outstanding university students who have the potential to be our future leaders.
