Please explain how your company got its start in manufacturing and where it is today.
Matric was founded by Andy Maitland and Lee Richey in 1971 to provide wireless remote controls to another Venango County manufacturer that remains a customer today. In 1993, the company was sold to its current owner, Rick Turner. The company has grown to one of the premiere manufacturing facilities in Venango County. Boasting an 80,000 square ft., state-of-the-art facility, the company employs approximately 250 local workers.
What do you want the community, especially students, to know about modern manufacturing? Modern manufacturing utilizes the latest technologies and techniques to create products that are oftentimes critical to modern society. Many of the electronics manufactured at Matric are life-saving devices designed to either protect the user in dangerous work conditions or provide medical protection against life-threatening health conditions.
