ERIE Conference to Tackle Impact of Immigration on Local Economy

ERIEThe Economic Research Institute of Erie (ERIE) announced today that it will hold its annual conference from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, at the Burke Center, Penn State Behrend. The theme of the conference is “The Impact on Immigration on the Local Economy.”

Featured speaker is Pia Orrenius, Ph.D., vice president and senior economist, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Her academic research focuses on the labor market impacts of immigration, unauthorized immigration and U.S. immigration policy. She has served as senior economist on the Council of Economic Advisers in the Executive Office of the President, and is co-author o the book, Beside the Golden Door: U.S. Immigration Reform in a New Era of Globalization.
