ERIE – Erie Events recently announced Gus Pine as the new general manager and Michael Kelly as the new assistant general manager of the Bayfront Convention Center.
In his role, Pine will oversee northwest Pennsylvania’s largest convention venue, managing all aspects of the Bayfront Convention Center including marketing, sales, finance, bookings, daily operations, food and beverage, information systems, personnel and contracted services. He will report directly to the executive director of Erie Events.
Pine has held numerous positions in the hospitality industry, most recently as the vice president of Convention Sales and Services for the Lansing Center in Lansing, Michigan. He was previously General Manager of the Radisson Hotel Lansing at the Capitol, also in Lansing, Michigan.
He is a native of Syracuse, New York and a graduate of the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration.
Kelly was previously the director of Operations of the Bayfront Convention Center, also overseeing the Food and Beverage Departments for all Erie Events facilities. He will continue to direct those departments in conjunction with his new position at the convention center.
He was hired in 2007 as the director of Food and Beverage at the Bayfront Convention Center and promoted to operations manager in 2008.
In his new role, Kelly will assist Pine in all aspects of convention center operations including marketing, sales, finance, bookings, daily operations, information systems, personnel and contracted services.
Erie Events, formerly known as the Erie County Convention Center Authority, operates the Erie Insurance Arena, Warner Theatre, UPMC Park and the Bayfront Convention Center.
